Launch Announcement & Call for Submissions

2025-07-17

We are excited to announce the launch of the Journal of Conservation Edgewalkers (JCE), a new open-access, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to advancing interdisciplinary knowledge and practice for a more just, inclusive, and coexistent future between people and wildlife.

As we prepare for our inaugural issue, we warmly invite emerging conservationists from across the globe to submit their work and help us co-create a journal that pushes the boundaries of conventional conservation publishing.

JCE was founded to fill a gap in the conservation landscape. Unlike many mainstream journals, JCE provides a supportive platform for emerging conservationists, especially those from the Global South, to contribute their ideas, experiences, and insights—whether through research, reflection, or practice-based innovation. We are especially committed to elevating underrepresented voices, plural knowledge systems, and context-grounded perspectives.

At JCE, we define emerging conservationists as individuals at the early stage of contributing to the broad field of conservation—those who are beginning to shape ideas, practices, and solutions related to biodiversity, sustainability, natural resource management, and other relevant topics. They may be students, early-career professionals, grassroots practitioners, community leaders, or newcomers to the field offering fresh and transformative approaches. What matters most is not age or formal title, but a spirit of inquiry, courage, and commitment.

For our inaugural issue, we welcome submissions that:

  • Present problem-oriented studies grounded in specific local contexts, addressing challenges in biodiversity conservation, sustainability, natural resource management, or related fields.
  • Promote dialogue and integration across the natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, and indigenous and local knowledge systems.
  • Offer critical reflections on the ethics, politics, and philosophy of conservation in diverse socio-ecological settings.

We especially welcome interdisciplinary contributions that are practical, grounded, and reflexively aware of standpoints, aiming to challenge assumptions and reimagine conservation from the edges.

Rolling submissions are accepted year-round.
